Giza Governor: immunizing 168 thousand heads of livestock

The Governor of Giza, Engineer Adel Al-Najjar, confirmed the continuation of veterinary medicine’s efforts in the field of awareness and guidance campaigns and directing veterinary convoys to various villages to provide free support to breeders at the governorate level to preserve livestock, noting that the campaigns and therapeutic convoys come within the framework of the presidential initiative “Beginning for Rural Development.” The Egyptian Ministry of Agriculture and providing various means of support to breeders and supporting livestock within the villages, centers and cities.

A report received by Engineer Adel Al-Najjar, Governor of Giza, revealed the efforts of the Veterinary Medicine Directorate to preserve On livestock during the past month, which was able, in the field of preventive medicine, to vaccinate “168,415” A head of cattle against diseases (foot-and-mouth disease, rift valley fever, lumpy skin, sheep pox, and septicemia), as part of the third national campaign to preserve livestock.

In the field of work to combat bird flu, samples were drawn from 36 farms; To ensure that they are free of bird flu, vaccinating 36,600 birds with the bird flu vaccine, in addition to conducting an investigation of 23 homes.

In the field of slaughterhouse management and to ensure that markets are sufficient for meat and poultry, 320 new permits were issued to slaughter 324,000 birds, bringing the total number of poultry slaughtered. 1,932,300 birds, in addition to 18,627 heads of livestock In government slaughterhouses.

In the field of public health and common diseases, and in continuation of efforts to improve breeds among breeders within the governorate, Brucella tests were conducted for 2,323 heads of livestock, 523 heads of cattle were vaccinated, and tuberculosis tests were conducted for 2,017 heads of buffalo and cows.

In the field of guidance and to raise citizens’ awareness, 400 guidance seminars were held in the fields of (importance of immunization, prevention of common diseases, rabies), numbering and insurance. 2000 heads, in addition to implementing 44 free treatment convoys to protect livestock as part of the Bedaya initiative in the villages of Giza Governorate, which resulted in the treatment of 41,869 heads of livestock.
