Emotional moment a 143-pound dog that can barely walk arrives at fat camp

A male dog weighing over 143lbs has been filmed struggling to get out of a car as he arrived at fat camp in Russia.

The overweight pooch, named Misha, is a former guard dog who had been charged with protecting a parking garage in Bryansk, but was reportedly abandoned by his owners, Newsflash reported.

Misha started being fed by two women who would throw scraps of food over their fence, but this is how the weight slowly started to creep on.

Upon noticing that he could no longer walk properly, an animal welfare team decided to help Misha lose weight, with an aim to get him down to 55lbs.

In the short video posted online, Misha looked reluctant to climb down from the backseat of a vehicle as he arrived at the fat camp center.

As his female handler coaxed him out of the car, Misha appeared to be unsteady on his paws – but once he found his balance, he slowly made his way inside, but not without difficulty.

In rather emotional scenes, the canine’s legs appear to almost collapse as he struggles to carry his own weight.

As he treads the snow-covered sidewalk, Misha is accompanied by several people as he finally makes it up a step and inside the building.

It has been reported that he is now being fostered by a Bryansk resident who carefully monitors his diet.

Kind volunteers are regularly taking him for medical procedures as Misha reportedly suffers from diabetes and struggles to eat and sleep properly.

Obesity in dogs can cause serious health issues, including diabetes, arthritis, heart disease, skin infections, anesthesia risks, and a shorter lifespan, as well as conditions like Cushing’s disease, urinary incontinence, and breathing problems.

Earlier this year, a CEO of an animal charity was heavily praised after he saved a morbidly obese street dog.

In June it was reported that Niall Harbison, the owner of Happy Doggo, found a 99lb Shepherd named Cindy Crawford in the middle of a street in Thailand a year ago.

The stray dog could barely walk, had her hair falling out and was covered in sores when she was found by Harbison outside a 7/11.

After she was taken in, doctors discovered that she was suffering from a thyroid issue and advised Harbison to be slow with her recovery as she could have died from a heart attack given the stress her body was under.

After five months of careful training and medication, ‘Cindy’ was able to begin running and her recovery was taken over by her current owner and personal trainer, Lana.

After swimming twice a day, taking daily jungle hikes and controlling her diet for a complete year, Cindy is now a new dog

Cindy dropped to 61lbs and improve her skin in the span of seven months after she was rescued.

After swimming twice a day, taking daily jungle hikes and controlling her diet for a complete year, Cindy is now the picture of good health.

‘This is Cindy Crawford today. She has her life back. Her dignity. Her self confidence.

‘She might just be a street dog in Thailand but I think we can all learn a lot from Cindy. We might be down at times in life. But we’re never out,’ Harbison wrote in a post on X.
