Replacing and renovating 1,137 mosques and furnishing 2,400 this year

During the year 2024 AD, the Egyptian Ministry of Endowments continued its prominent efforts in the field of mosque architecture nationwide, which confirms the Ministry’s commitment to enhancing the role of mosques as spiritual and cultural centers that serve society. These efforts included replacing, renovating, maintaining and developing more than 1,000 mosques, in addition to furnishing more than 2,000 mosques, in achievements that confirm interest and dedication to serving the houses of God Almighty.

 

< p>During the year, the Ministry initiated the furnishing of 2,403 mosques, with a total amount of furnishing amounting to 722,487 square meters of carpet, at a total cost of more than 200. One million pounds. This initiative confirms the Ministry’s keenness to improve the environment of mosques and prepare them to receive worshipers in an atmosphere befitting their honorable shrine. Within the framework of the replacement and renovation operations, the Ministry carried out the replacement and renovation of 84 mosques through direct implementation, at a cost exceeding 228 million pounds, in addition to maintenance. 41 mosques implemented by the Ministry at a cost exceeding 202 million pounds. Government efforts were not limited to that, but witnessed broad community participation through self-efforts in replacing and renovating 781 mosques at an estimated cost of 2 billion and 800 million pounds, and maintaining 231 mosques at an estimated cost of 221 million pounds. This highlights the role of society in supporting mosque architecture projects.

 

The total number of mosques that were included in the replacement, renovation and maintenance works reached 1,137 mosques nationwide, at a total cost estimated at about three billion pounds. These efforts were distributed between replacing and renovating 865 mosques, and maintaining 272 mosques, unprecedented achievements in terms of quantity and quality, confirming the amount of serious and continuous work throughout the year.

 

The Ministry focused To carry out replacement, renovation and maintenance operations according to the highest engineering and technical standards, to ensure the sustainability of mosques for long periods and better serve worshipers. The work included restoring infrastructure, renovating minarets, improving lighting and ventilation systems, in addition to expanding some mosques to meet the needs of those who frequent them and increase their capacity.

 

The ministry’s efforts also included coordination. Intensive with the local community; To enhance community participation in mosque architecture; Which led to the completion of replacement and renewal projects with great community support.
