The Minister of Foreign Affairs meets with the Egyptian candidate for the position of Director General of UNESCO to follow up on the nomination campaign

Within the framework of Dr. Badr Abdel Aty, Minister of Foreign Affairs and Immigration, periodic follow-up of the file of the Egyptian nomination campaign for the position of Director General of UNESCO, he received today, Dr. Khaled Al-Anani, the former Minister of Tourism and Antiquities and the Egyptian candidate for the position of Director General of UNESCO, to learn about the latest developments in the campaign. This was in the presence of Minister Plenipotentiary Wael Abdel Wahab, director of the nomination campaign.

Ambassador Tamim Khallaf, the official spokesman for the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, stated that the meeting touched on The future plan for the nomination campaign, and the position of international support that witnessed both France and Brazil officially announcing their support for the Egyptian candidate, thus joining a large group of other countries that had previously supported the Egyptian candidacy, which had previously been unanimously approved by the Executive Council of the African Union at its forty-fourth session in February. The past, and from the Arab Summit in its thirty-third session, which was held last May.

The official spokesman added that D. Al-Anani thanked all state agencies, especially the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, Egypt’s permanent delegation to UNESCO, as well as all Egyptian embassies for the great effort made in the nomination framework. At the end of the meeting, the Minister of Foreign Affairs was keen to thank those in charge of the campaign, and directed the continuation of intensive communication with various countries to mobilize international support, stressing Egypt’s right to obtain this high international position in recognition of its regional and international standing and its pioneering role in the areas of work of the United Nations Educational, Scientific and Cultural Organization.
