The Minister of Labor directs "Menoufia District" Following up on an accident in which 4 workers died and 2 were injured
The Minister of Labor, Mohamed Gibran, today, Thursday, directed the Menoufia Governorate Labor Directorate to quickly follow up on a tragic accident, which caused the death of 4 workers and the injury of 2 others. They were exposed to severe suffocation after falling into a sewage pit in the city of Shebin al-Koum, while they were cleaning it, as well as Follow up on the circumstances of the accident, and ensure compliance with precautionary and safety measures while working in such " “sinks,” and determining responsibility after knowing the entity in which they work, “identifying the subordination of these workers and those responsible for them,” to take the necessary measures to prevent the recurrence of this type of accident, and to quickly prepare a comprehensive report with the details of the accident.
As the Minister directed, Director of the Labor Directorate in Menoufia, Imad Saeed, offered his condolences to the families of the deceased victims, visited the injured in Shebin El-Kom Hospital, and took the necessary measures in coordination with the Central Administration for Irregular Employment. To pay compensation amounting to 200 thousand pounds to the family of each deceased, and 20 thousand pounds to the injured.
It is noted here that the accident resulted in the death of: Muhammad Karem, Muhammad Raafat ( 27 years old), Jamal Mustafa (30 years old), and Muhammad Ragab (25 years old), while Muhammad Sami (42 years old) from Tanta, and Islam (32 years old) from the village of Dakma, were injured. They were transferred to Shebin El-Kom Teaching Hospital in critical condition.
