Jason Kelce blasts Ohio State representative for introducing bill to penalize flag-planting

NFL legend Jason Kelce has blasted the Ohio State representative who introduced the bill to make flag-planting at midfield a felony in the Buckeye State a week after he was torched online for the assertion.

Republican Josh Williams introduced the bill less than two weeks after Ohio State’s embarrassing home loss to arch rival Michigan.

After the loss, Wolverines players brought out a huge blue and gold flag and planted it in the middle of the Buckeye’s O, leading to a massive brawl in Columbus that took several minutes to separate.

Kelce spoke on the matter that pertains to his home state on this week’s episode of ‘New Heights’ alongside younger brother Travis Kelce.

Neither Kelce brother attended Ohio State, opting to join the Cincinnati Bearcats instead.

‘We have the Ohio State anti-flag planting law officially put into effect. Ohio State Representative Josh Williams introduced the act on Tuesday in an attempt to curb flag planting… or also an attempt to be petty as f***!,’ Jason said. ‘I don’t like it, I’m not going to lie. This is soft!’

‘When I think of Ohio State Buckeyes, I think of just “toughness”, man,’ Travis added. ‘I just don’t think this is a toughness-type move. You wanna have sportsmanship, you wanna have all that… but..’

‘It’s for the NCAA to determine, not an Ohio State Representative,’ Jason continued. ‘Get the f*** out of here Josh. It’s all just posturing, it’s petty, and I don’t like it. I don’t think it’s cool, I think it’s stupid. Some of the best parts of the rivalries are when dumb things happen like this. I’m not in favor of it.’

The bill only covers the state of Ohio and not similar flag-planting incidents that happened last month in Florida and North Carolina.

Many fans have seen Williams’ move as being sour grapes, after Ohio State lost its chance at a Big Ten Championship and nearly had to go on the road for the first round of the College Football Playoff because of the loss.

Michigan only plays in Columbus every two years, with some calling for a Tennessee victory in this weekend’s CFP first-round game in Columbus to see the Volunteers plant an orange flag at midfield before the law could become official.

Either way, where the Kelce brothers stand on the issue is clear.
