During the meeting, the Minister of Agriculture was keen to listen to the success stories and experiences of farmers and female breadwinners, regarding benefiting from the activities of the executive body for comprehensive development projects, especially In-kind lending projects for ducks, goats, and bees, which aim to create job opportunities, increase the income of female breadwinners, develop their skills, and improve their income and standard of living.
The Minister of Agriculture also inspected the efforts implemented by the agency in the village, to transform it into a model village. These efforts include models for unifying holdings, developing irrigation, and a solar energy station.
Farouk stressed the Egyptian state’s keenness to provide all means of support to farmers and raise the level of their livelihood, pointing to the initiative President Abdel Fattah El-Sisi for the development of the Egyptian countryside, “A Decent Life”, and the efforts that have been made in Egyptian villages.
The Minister of Agriculture indicated the continued efforts of the Ministry of Agriculture in permanent, continuous and rapid communication with farmers in the villages and fields, and listening to their problems. Pointing out that there are directives to all officials in the Ministry of Agriculture to intensify their presence, provide technical support to farmers, and address any problems facing farmers. Farouk directed the continuation of the efforts of the executive body for comprehensive development projects in the beneficiary areas, providing more support to female breadwinners, and coordination and cooperation with the Agricultural Bank of Egypt and civil society institutions in this regard, to develop and diversify these projects and market their production. For his part, Dr. Ali Hazin, head of the executive body for comprehensive development projects, said that the activity of unifying holdings in the village was implemented, with the aim of increasing productivity, by unifying small agricultural holdings, as this activity was implemented for the wheat crop, with an area of 402 acres, and corn, with an area of 200 acres. Pointing out that work was also done to improve irrigation efficiency, with the aim of preserving water resources and reducing irrigation costs, as 3 sub-courses were developed and two solar power stations were installed to serve 51 acres. He added that the activity of improving the efficiency of animal production aims to provide alternative sources of income and achieve self-sufficiency, by providing in-kind loans for raising ducks, goats and bees, as the total number of loans for ducks reached about 1,172 loans, 6 loans for bees, and 145 loans for goats, pointing out They all contributed to increasing and improving the incomes of beneficiaries, both male and female.
