Health care: 33 million family medicine services in comprehensive health insurance governorates within 5 years
The Public Health Care Authority, headed by Dr. Ahmed Al-Sabki, Chairman of the Health Care Authority and General Supervisor of the Comprehensive Health Insurance Project, revealed the most prominent achievements of implementing comprehensive health coverage in the governorates of the first phase of implementing the new comprehensive health insurance, coinciding with the celebration of World Universal Health Coverage Day. , which is celebrated on December 12 of each year.
The authority explained the total medical and therapeutic services that were provided over a period of 5 years under the umbrella of health coverage. Comprehensive, which included more than 57 million medical and therapeutic services, including more than 19 million services in Port Said, 20.5 million services in Luxor, 12.5 million medical and therapeutic services in Ismailia, 2 million services in South Sinai, one million medical services in Aswan, in addition to More than 1.5 million medical and therapeutic services in the Suez Governorate.
The authority indicated that during the year 2024 The operation of the governorates of the first phase of comprehensive health insurance has been completed to include 6 governorates, namely “Port Said, Luxor, Ismailia, South Sinai, Aswan, and Suez,” pointing out that the number of beneficiaries has reached more than 5.4 million beneficiaries in those governorates.
She continued: 33 million family medicine services were provided through 285 family medicine facilities affiliated with the Health Care Authority in the six governorates. Family medicine units are the nucleus of the comprehensive health coverage system, as they provide 80% of the services that the citizen needs, and the family is the unit of use under the umbrella of comprehensive health coverage, not the individual.
Dr. Ahmed emphasized Al-Sabki, Chairman of the Health Care Authority, General Supervisor of the Comprehensive Health Insurance and Decent Life projects at the Ministry of Health and Population, stated that providing integrated and distinguished health services, and making health services available on a larger scale to beneficiaries and with the highest quality that matches international standards, is The authority’s top priority, pointing out that the General Authority for Health Care owns 328 medical and treatment facilities in the governorates implementing the first phase of the comprehensive health coverage system, noting that more than 75% of these facilities are accredited according to various degrees of accreditation, in accordance with the standards of the General Authority for Health Accreditation and Control (GAHAR), which are recognized.
