Dr. Sherif Farouk, Minister of Supply and Internal Trade, and Dr. Jacqueline Azer, Governor of Beheira, today inspected the Damanhour silo of the Holding Company for Silos and Storage in Beheira Governorate. This comes within the framework of following up on the Ministry’s efforts to strengthen the grain storage system and secure strategic wheat stocks.

The Damanhour silo is one of the most prominent storage facilities in the governorate, as it includes 12 storage cells, each cell having a capacity 5,000 tons, bringing the total storage capacity of the silo to 60,000 tons, which enhances its ability to receive and store large quantities of wheat efficiently and with high quality.
During the tour, the Minister followed the progress of work. In the silo, he reviewed the mechanisms for receiving and storing wheat according to the latest technological systems, praising the available capabilities that contribute to maintaining the quality of the grain and providing the strategic needs of the mills. Dr. Sherif Farouk confirmed that the Ministry is continuing to develop the infrastructure of the silos to increase their storage capacity in line with the state’s plan to achieve self-sufficiency in grains and secure the food needs of citizens. He pointed out that modern silos play a pivotal role in reducing grain loss and improving storage efficiency.
The Minister stressed the importance of coordination between all concerned parties to ensure continuity. Working with high efficiency inside the silos, noting that the Ministry seeks to expand the silo system in various governorates to support food stability and meet the needs of the local market.
