The Central Committee for People of Determination of the Republican People’s Party, headed by Representative Najla Al-Osaili, Undersecretary of the Central Committee for People of Determination, held an educational symposium on “Modern visions and trends in the psychology and behavior of families with a son with special needs,” in honor of Major General Mohamed Salah Abu Hamila, Secretary-General of the Party – Head of its parliamentary body in the House of Representatives, with the participation of Representative Amal Asfour, Assistant Secretary of the Central Women’s Secretariat, at the headquarters of the Central Secretariat. Major General Muhammad Salah Abu Hamila began the symposium by welcoming Dr. Ihab Eid, pointing out the importance of the symposium’s topic in enhancing awareness about the needs of families with children with special needs, and the party’s role in supporting these families and providing the necessary assistance. In the same context, Dr. Ihab Eid addressed several important topics related to how to support families who have children with special needs, where the focus was on understanding the family’s needs, which include the psychological and social challenges that Families face them, and how to provide them with the necessary support, in addition to reviewing effective strategies for dealing with the behavior of children with special needs, including positive parenting methods and enhancing communication.
It also discussed the feelings and stages of a family’s experience with a child with special needs and preparing them to deal with them. And the differences in how family members dealt with the shock of this son’s presence, as well as family and societal bullying, and the development of these children’s life problems.
