Chris Rock Chucked A Tanty After Someone Filmed His Set At Aussie Billionaire’s Party
Over the weekend, Chris Rock made headlines for all the wrong reasons after he abruptly stormed out of a holiday party hosted by Australian billionaire Anthony Pratt at the Mandarin Oriental in New York City. And let’s just say, the whole thing was as bizarre as it sounds.
So, what happened? According to New York Post columnist Cindy Adams, Rock was having a grand old time on stage, doing his thing, dishing out jokes, not getting slapped — life was good. But, things went south when one of his jokes did not hit.
He quipped, “Our new push will be outer space. We’ll put all the Mexicans on the rockets.” I know what you’re thinking: it’s bold of me to call that a joke, but that’s what it’s being reported as.
But just when you thought he might actually stick around to see how this trainwreck would unfold, he spotted someone filming him. “Whatever he saw — or thought he saw — upset him,” wrote Adams.
And just like that, Rock went from comedian to major drama queen. Apparently, he shouted that he “wasn’t supposed to be taped, videoed, reported or whatever else wasn’t supposed to happen”, and then bolted through the crowd.
Adams described his exit as him “barrelling quickly, forcefully, through people to the exit doors,” while “bitching loudly” all the way out. LMAO finish him!!!
The crowd included some pretty big names: singer Keith Urban, actor George Hamilton, and former Australian prime minister Tony Abbott and former Victorian premier Daniel Andrews. Honestly, this is my personal nightmare blunt rotation.
Thankfully, to ease the awkward tension Rock left behind, Urban stepped in to save the day with an hour and a half of music.
Rock hasn’t commented on the situation yet, but now that I think about it maybe it was smart that he ran, because he surely would’ve been slapped for that joke again.
