The law prohibits discrimination and forced labor… and refers the dismissal to the labor court

The General Union of Tourism and Hotel Workers, headed by Mohsen Ash-Allah, head of the union and supervisor of the Immigration and Foreign Employment Secretariat at the Egyptian Trade Union, continues awareness campaigns about the draft new labor law by studying its economic and social dimensions, especially on the tourism sector, in the second educational symposium moderated by Dr. Niazi Mustafa. The legal expert and member of the legislative committee to prepare the draft law.

 

The participants confirmed that the articles of the law include a special section for work systems in Tourism and hotel facilities, which represent one of the basic pillars of the national economy, stipulate the activation of social dialogue with departments, businessmen, and federations of tourism chambers to provide a safe working environment for about 5 million workers in the sector.

Niyazi Mustafa, the legal advisor, pointed out that Article 9 of The current constitution issued in 2014 gives the right to workers’ representatives to negotiate, participate, and prepare specific regulations for work systems, in addition to concluding collective agreements, indicating that this contributes to opening investment horizons. Tourism and attracting tourists, which is what the Legislative Committee targeted when preparing the new draft law in response to the observations of the Supreme Constitutional Court in the amended draft, aspects of which overlooked the relationship with other relevant national laws, especially Social Security Law 148 of 2019, in addition to the texts of the international labor conventions that Egypt has ratified.< /p>

He said that the Constitution prohibited discrimination in labor relations, non-forced employment, and arbitrary dismissal, which the draft law gave to the Labor Court, and addressed the financial conditions for comprehensive minimum and maximum wages and promotions. And the dangers of the arduous and dangerous profession.

The second educational symposium organized by the General Syndicate in Alexandria discussed the articles of the draft law, which included 260 articles, with the participation of representatives of workers in hotel and tourist establishments, in the presence of the General Syndicate office, which includes Magdy Khalil and Abdel Aziz Hassaniyin, vice-presidents of the General Syndicate. Tariq Hussein, Secretary-General, Mohamed Mustafa, Deputy Secretary-General, Imad Ahmed, Assistant Treasurer, Amani Sami, Secretary of Working Women and Children, and Abeer. Sami, head of the union committee for workers at Sporting Club in Alexandria, and labor leader Ahmed Ghandar.
