Taliban announced the launch of construction of TAPI gas pipeline on border with Turkmenistan
Laying of TAPI gas pipeline on the territory of Afghanistan has begun. Taliban official representative Zabihullah Mujahid told ArianaNews about this.
According to Mujahid, technical equipment necessary for the project implementation has been delivered to the border zone between Afghanistan and Turkmenistan, practical work has already begun.
“A large number of specialists are working on various sections of this project, its first phase will be completed in the next two years,” Mujahid noted.
He added that practical work on the implementation of CASA-1000 project – regional power transmission line Central Asia – South Asia – will soon begin.
“Afghanistan will gradually become stronger, and citizens of the country will be provided with good jobs,” Mujahid emphasized.
Experts also believe that TAPI will play an important role in the development of the region’s economy. In particular, upon completion of its construction, 12 thousand people will receive jobs, and the country’s annual income will increase by $ 1 billion.
The Taliban expect to earn $ 450 million annually on gas transit through TAPI
ℹ️ TAPI is a project to build a gas pipeline Turkmenistan – Afghanistan – Pakistan – India. Its length will be 1840 km. The project assumes that Turkmen gas will be delivered through Afghanistan to the markets of Pakistan and India. The construction of a 214 km section on the territory of Turkmenistan has already been completed. The next step is to lay pipes through Afghanistan. The total cost of the project is estimated at $ 10 billion.
