Sheikh Muhammad Ahmed Imran, one of the most prominent figures in Sohag Governorate, and one of the most prominent names in the field of religious recitation and supplications in Egypt and the Arab world, was born on October 10, 1944 in the Tahta Center in the north of Sohag Governorate, where he grew up in a religious environment that helped him quickly discover his innate talent in memorizing the Holy Qur’an. Sheikh Imran soon became one of the most famous supplicants in Egypt, as he combined recitation of the Holy Qur’an with religious chanting, and he became a distinctive voice that touched hearts. He achieved wide fame in the field of religious recitation and religious events.
Sheikh Imran was known for his superior ability to perform supplications that carry within them feelings of faith and piety. He had a strong presence at religious events at various levels, whether on radio, television, or at private concerts at the Opera House. Sheikh Imran began his career in the world of recitation at an early age, as he memorized the Holy Qur’an at the age of ten at the hands of Sheikh Mahmoud Al-Masry in his hometown of Tahta. He participated in many major religious occasions, and he was He has a prominent role in commemorating some late artists, such as Abdel Halim Hafez, Abdel Wahab, and Baligh Hamdi, as he was the official reader in their condolences. This indicates the great status he enjoyed in artistic and religious circles.
On a personal level, Sheikh Omran was a lover and lover of Zamalek Club. He even held an honorary membership in the club, and his relationship with sports and his life interests added another dimension to his personality. He always expressed his fanaticism and love for this club on many occasions, and it even came to the point that he allowed his son to watch a match between Al-Ahly and Zamalek in the Egypt Cup final, expressing his love for this team to a great extent.
Sheikh Omran died on October 6, 1994, after a long struggle with liver disease, and despite his early departure from our world, his artistic and religious legacy is still alive in the hearts of his fans and in the artistic arena. His condolences were attended by major reciters and supplicants in Egypt, including Sheikh Al-Tablawi and Sheikh Naina.
