The new European Commission takes office in Brussels on December 1. This new team of 27 European commissioners was elected last week, by the European Parliament in Strasbourg, by a small majority (54%). This is the weakest majority obtained by a European Commission in 30 years.
For the first time, it includes a far-right European commissioner: the Italian Raffaele Fitto, from Fratelli d’Italia, the post-fascist party of Giorgia Meloni. He is one of six executive vice presidents of the Commission.
