The Golden Bachelor Australia doesn’t have a premiere date, an official cast list or a teaser, but the reality TV rumour mill has reported that five contestants have “suddenly” been booted from the mansion. YIKES.
ICYMI, it appeared that Australia’s Bachelor universe was in the shitter when Network 10 officially announced that The Bachelors would not be returning for another season. However, in a delightful little twist, Channel Nine announced that it would be bringing The Golden Bachelor to our screens in 2025.
For folks who’ve yet to feast their eyes on the Bachie spin-off, The Golden Bachelor follows the same premise as any normal Bachelor show. However, the contestants and the bachie himself are a tad bit older.
If I could compare it to another show, I would say something like My Mum, Your Dad. Super wholesome, right?
At the time of writing, Channel Nine hasn’t made any official updates in regards to the new show since they revealed it was on their roster. But paparazzi have managed to snag a glimpse of Australia’s first Golden Bachelor, which was revealed to be Sydney’s Barry ‘Bear’ Myrden.
Well, in a spicy development, an inside source revealed that five female contestants were “suddenly” booted from The Golden Bachelor mansion.
Per the Daily Mail Australia, an insider dished that the “brutal” eviction took place because of the contestant’s “perceived attitude problem” with the show and Myrden.
“Five women were sent packing in one go, and not all of them were heartbroken to leave,” the anonymous source told the publication.
“Everyone knows how these shows work. Realistically, you have a few girls who really like the Bachelor and will fight for him. The rest are just there for a good time.
“But the problem is that the women who weren’t that into Bear were just being super negative about the whole thing. And negativity is contagious.
“So they were let go. I have no idea if there will be any formal process to it, whether they’ll at least have a rose ceremony, or if they’ll just disappear one episode.”
Although the evictions were “brutal”, the source adds that it was “absolutely the right decision”.
Again, we haven’t been given an ounce of Golden Bachelor Australia promo as it seems to be in the filming process. However, with this tea, I am dying to see how these evictions unfold.
Alongside the bombshell eliminations, the source also claimed that The Golden Bachelor is “rife” with backstabbing and game-playing behind the scenes.
“There’s some serious nastiness going on,” they said before adding that one woman allegedly called out other contestants for clout chasing.
“It’s less about falling in love now… more about who can just win.”
Look, while I am here for the wholesomeness, I am completely there for this kind of reality TV drama — especially with Married At First Sight 2025 officially donezo.
In March 2025, it was also rumoured that Abbie Chatfield‘s mama, Laura Junner, would be jumping on the show for a shot at love after she was papped with a full face of glam.
When PEDESTRIAN.TV reached out to Abbie for a comment regarding the rumour, she cheekily replied, “No comment ehhehehehe”.
