27% growth in digital customs transactions across Abu Dhabi ports in the first half of 2024

Abu Dhabi, 2 August / WAM / The General Administration of Customs – Abu Dhabi recorded a 27% growth in digital customs transactions through Abu Dhabi’s border ports during the first half of 2024 compared to the same period in 2023.

Proactive and automatic transactions achieved a growth of 28% of the total volume of customs transactions during the first six months of 2024 compared to the first half of 2023, as Abu Dhabi Customs provides a proactive insurance refund service to its clients in Abu Dhabi, issues truck transit permits, permits for goods to enter and exit the customs center, customs certificates for vehicles, and automatic customs exit and entry certificates, with the preparation of the customs declaration.

Customs data witnessed a growth of 2% in the first half of 2024, and pre-arrival clearance transactions constituted 71% of the total customs clearance procedures transactions, at various customs ports across the emirate, achieving a growth of 46% compared to the same period in 2023.

The customs clearance transaction time in the first half of 2024 reached 13.86 minutes compared to 15.47 minutes during the same period in 2023, while Abu Dhabi Customs services achieved a 94% customer satisfaction index through the Abu Dhabi Government Digital Services Platform “Tamm”, as Abu Dhabi Customs works with strategic partners to implement initiatives and projects that rely on advanced technologies and smart systems to reach the highest global rates in customs clearance time to achieve the emirate’s economic goals and future visions to support trade movement.

His Excellency Rashid Lahej Al Mansouri, Director General of Abu Dhabi Customs, stressed that the continuous growth rates reflect the level of maturity in digital transformation that Abu Dhabi Customs has reached, especially in the use of modern technology and artificial intelligence tools, providing innovative solutions, developing services on an ongoing basis, and improving the customer journey with the customs system in accordance with the Abu Dhabi Program for an Effortless Customer Experience and applying the best international practices and leading international standards, in line with the changes, needs and future visions of customs work, which is consistent with its strategic directions and vision to be a leading customs authority globally.
