2025 Super Bowl: Date, time and how to watch as the Philadelphia Eagles look to deny Kansas City Chiefs a historic three-peat…And if Taylor Swift will be in attendance

The 2025 Super Bowl is the 59th edition of America’s biggest sporting event and will see the Philadelphia Eagles take on the Kansas City Chiefs.

The Chiefs, led by quarterback Patrick Mahomes, have aspirations of becoming the first team to ever win the Vince Lombardi Trophy three times in a row.

Hoping to stop Mahomes and his men from achieving a historic ‘three-peat’ will be the Eagles – who are headed by the NFL’s leading rusher in Saquon Barkley.

The occasion is set to garner a huge audience, with viewing figures having the potential to be boosted even further should Taylor Swift be in attendance and cheering on Chiefs tight end Travis Kelce, with the pair having been in a relationship since the end of summer 2023.

So, what date is this year’s Super Bowl? How can you watch the showdown and will Taylor Swift be in attendance?

Who is playing in Super Bowl LIX?

This year’s Super Bowl will see the Chiefs – winners of the AFC for the third year in a row – take on the Eagles, who return to the NFL’s showpiece for the first time since losing to Kansas City in 2023.

While the spotlight will be on the electric duo of Mahomes and Kelce, the Eagles have plenty of firepower among their roster.

Quarterback Jalen Hurts has one of the most dangerous wide receiver combinations in the league in AJ Brown and DeVonta Smith.

Meanwhile, linebacker Zach Baun made 151 tackles in the regular season to earn himself a spot on the shortlist for Defensive Player of the Year.

Where is the Super Bowl 2025?

This year’s Super Bowl will be played at the Caesars Superdome in New Orleans, which holds 83,000 spectators.

It will be the eighth time that the Superdome has hosted a Super Bowl, with the last occasion being in 2013, when the San Francisco 49ers played the Baltimore Ravens.

This encounter became colloquially known as the Blackout Bowl after a partial power cut in the Superdome at the start of the second half suspended play for 34 minutes.

What time will the Super Bowl start?

While the game is known as Super Sunday in the US, the game is in fact scheduled to kick off at around 12:30am in the UK, going well into the early hours of Monday morning.

In the UK, the game will be available to watch on both paid and terrestrial television services as it will be shown by Sky Sports and ITV

Back Stateside, kick-off will take place at around 6:30pm Eastern Time (3:30pm Pacific Time).

In Australia, the clash will commence at both 10:30am in Melbourne and Sydney, 10am in Adelaide, 9:30am in Brisbane, and the earlier time of 7:30am in Perth.

How can I watch?

In the UK, the game will be available to watch on both paid and terrestrial television services as it will be shown by Sky Sports and ITV.

While ITV’s coverage – presented by Craig Doyle, former NFL player Jason Bell and two-time Super Bowl winner Osi Umenyiora – starts at the later time of 10:45pm on Sunday February 9, Sky will begin pre-match build-up from 2pm on the day.

Long-time NFL presenter Neil Reynolds will be joined by ex-NFL quarterback Ryan Fitzpatrick, former Super Bowl winner Ndamukong Suh and Phoebe Schecter in New Orleans.

In the United States, the game will be shown live on Fox Sports, with commentary coming from Kevin Burkhardt and Tom Brady.

Will Taylor Swift be in attendance?

Since Swift and Kelce began their relationship with one another towards the end of summer 2023, Taylor has been a consistent presence at Chiefs games.

Following the conclusion of the singer’s mammoth Eras Tour, she has no pre-existing events that clash with Super Bowl LIX.

It has previously been reported that Swift did not attend Chiefs away games due to security concerns, but she was in attendance as Kelce lifted the Lombardi Trophy in 2024, so could be set to do so again this year.

How much does an ad cost?

A Super Bowl advert is one of the most lucrative commercial slots for any brand thanks to the sheer number of viewers who tune into the event across the globe.

This means that a 30-second TV spot is expected to cost around $7million – but the total audience often makes it worth the significant outlay that is required to secure an advert.

Aware of the opportunity to raise their public profile, a number of celebrities also appear in the commercials, with the likes of Ben Affleck, Matt Damon, Tom Brady and Jennifer Lopez featuring in an advert for Dunkin’ Donuts last year.

Who is doing the halftime show in 2025?

Kendrick Lamar will be performing the Super Bowl halftime show this year, having previously played at the Super Bowl LVI Halftime Show in 2022, which was headlined by Dr. Dre.

It saw a staggering 103.4million viewers tune in – with Snoop Dogg, Eminem, 50 Cent, and Mary J. Blige featuring in guest verses.

How much money do players get for winning the Super Bowl?

Each player on the winning team will receive a bonus of $164,000, while the losing team’s players make around half of that amount.

While this may not seem like much compared to the prizes that other stars get for winning huge sporting events across the world, NFL players are some of the highest-paid athletes in the world.

This is evident in the contract that star quarterback Mahomes has with the Chiefs – a $450million dollar contract valid until 2031 which he signed back in 2020.
