With 46 days until Election Day, Donald Trump and Kamala Harris are still in a dead heat in the presidential election.
Polling in Georgia – a battleground that could decide the election – shows the Republican nominee leading.
Meanwhile, a new DailyMail.com poll has found voters believe Harris is responsible for some of the disastrous policies seen under Biden – including rising inflation, the border crisis, and the botched Afghanistan withdrawal.
And longtime Texas GOP Senator Ted Cruz’s reelection race could be in trouble after a shocking new poll put him one point behind his Democratic challenger.
Follow all the developments in politics in our live blog.
Shock poll reveals Trump gaining on Harris in state Republicans haven’t won since 2004
Vice President Kamala Harris is just two points ahead of Donald Trump in Virginia, a state Republicans haven’t won since 2004, a new poll shows.
The results are in the margin area, and suggests the race could be much closer than its current projection.
Real Clear Politics has Harris leading by an average of 4.5 points, while Decision Desk HQ gives the VP a 90 percent chance of winning.
Stephen J. Farnsworth, director of the university’s Center for Leadership and Media Studies, said:
This new survey suggests Virginia should be getting a much closer look from both presidential campaigns.
Virginia may deserve to be treated as a ‘swing state’ once again this year.
Ted Cruz in trouble against Texas Democrat challenger in eye-popping new poll
Texas Republican Senator Ted Cruz is trailing his Democratic challenger Colin Allred in a shocking new poll that could signal trouble for the longtime lawmaker.
According to a Morning Consult survey released Friday, Allred has a one-point advantage over Cruz at 45% to 44%.
It comes after Donald Trump adviser Chris LaCivita wrote on X earlier this week: ‘What the hell is wrong with the Senate race in Texas? I think i know …and i think i know his name ….time to get some real professionals in to save @tedcruz‘
Cruz is still expected to keep his seat and has held a lead over Allred in all previous polls.
The Cook Political Report maintains that the race is still ‘likely Republican.’

Trump declares he will ‘save vaping’
Former President Donald Trump says he’s committed to keeping vapes available on the market.
He took to Truth Social to post about how he plans to continue to be a ‘savior’ for vaping if reelected:
I saved Flavored Vaping in 2019, and it greatly helped people get off smoking.
I raised the age to 21, keeping it away from the “kids.”
Kamala and Joe want everything banned, killing small businesses all over the Country. I’ll save Vaping again!
186 Democrats vote against bill that would strip federal funding from ‘sanctuary cities’ harboring illegal migrants
A House bill to strip federal funding from so-called ‘sanctuary cities’ that house illegal migrants passed today.
A dozen Democrats voted with Republicans to send the measure to the Senate, but nearly 200 voted against it.
That is a sure line of attack that the GOP will take with them on the campaign trail ahead of the election.
Kamala Harris ad ties Donald Trump to controversial candidate for Governor Mark Robinson
The Kamala Harris campaign has released a new television ad featuring controversial Republican candidate for governor of North Carolina.
The ad features Trump praising Robinson, describing him as ‘better than Martin Luther King Jr’ and an ‘unbelievable Lt. Governor.’
It also focuses on Robinson’s remarks about abortion.
‘For me, there is no compromise on abortion,’ a clip of Robinson says and “we could pass a bill and say, ‘You can’t have an abortion in North Carolina for any reason.’”
‘Donald Trump and Mark Robinson, they’re both wrong for North Carolina,’ the ad concludes.
The ad does not feature Robinson’s resurfaced comments reported by CNN describing himself as a ‘black Nazi’ on a porn forum profile connected to his name as well as other lewd comments.
Robinson denied the report, telling CNN, ‘This is not us. These are not our words. And this is not anything that is characteristic of me.’
He suggested the information was ‘manufactured.’
‘I’m not going to get into the minutia of how somebody manufactured this, these salacious tabloid lies,’ he added.
Breaking:Secret Service at fault for ‘failures’ at Trump’s July 13 rally
Secret Service Acting Director Secret Service Acting Director Ronald Rowe said about his agency’s short five-page initial findings of the investigation into the deadly rally:
It’s important that we hold ourselves to account for the failures of July 13th and that we use the lessons learned to make sure that we do not have another mission failure like this again.
The report summary runs through ‘communications deficiencies’ that allowed Thomas Matthew Crooks, 20, to shoot former President Donald Trump from a nearby building.
He also shot and killed a retired firefighter and injured several others in the crowd.
The summary of the report states that there were several ‘communications deficiencies’ that led to the shooting:
A consistent theme gathered from state and local law enforcement personnel who helped secure the Butler rally was the presence of communications deficiencies.
The failure of personnel to broadcast via radio the description of the assailant, or vital information received from local law enforcement regarding a suspicious individual on the roof of the AGR complex, to all federal personnel at the Butler site inhibited the collective awareness of all Secret Service personnel.
This failure was especially acute in terms of [Trump’s] protective detail, who were not apprised of how focused state and local law enforcement were in the minutes leading up to the attack on locating the suspicious subject.
If this information was passed over Secret Service radio frequencies it would have allowed [Trump’s] protective detail to determine whether to move their protectee while the search for the suspicious suspect was in progress.
Georgia orders ballots to be counted by hand for the 2024 election… potentially delaying the result for weeks
Georgia’s Republican-controlled state election board voted on Friday to require a labor-intensive hand count of potentially millions of ballots in November’s election, a move voting rights advocates say could cause delays, introduce errors and lay the groundwork for spurious election challenges.
The hand count rule, passed in a 3-2 vote, will make Georgia the only state in the U.S. to implement such a requirement as part of the normal process of tabulating results, according to Gowri Ramachandran, the director of elections and security at New York University’s Brennan Center for Justice, a left-leaning public policy institute.
Georgia is one of seven battleground states likely to determine the Nov. 5 contest between Republican presidential candidate Donald Trump and his Democratic opponent, Vice President Kamala Harris.
The state’s five-member board has passed a slew of election law changes in recent months, powered by three conservative members praised by Trump.
Civil rights groups say those changes could allow rogue county election board members to delay or deny certification of election results, throwing the state’s vote into chaos.
Democrats have filed a lawsuit challenging two of the certification rules, and a state judge has scheduled a non-jury trial for October 1.

On what date did the FBI first inform President Trump’s campaign it had been hacked?
Did the FBI use any Foreign Intelligence Surveillance Act authorities to surveil President Trump’s campaign?

Trump threatens: ‘If you vote illegally, you’re going to jail!’
Former President Donald Trump is heightening concerns about illegal migrants voting in the 2024 election in a new Truth Social post.
His alarm comes after a Republican-led funding bill with ban on noncitizen voting failed on the House floor on Wednesday.
Trump has inserted himself in the middle of the government funding showdown, encouraging a government shutdown if the SAVE Act is not part of the package.
The SAVE Act is a bill that would crack down on noncitizen voting in the upcoming election by requiring proof of citizenship.

Senior campaign advisor Corey Lewandowski quickly deleted a post sharing a sensational report alleging that journalist Olivia Nuzzi had an online affair with Robert F. Kennedy, Jr.
Lewandowski, who helmed Trump’s 2016 campaign for part of his run and rejoined his effort this summer, shared an article by Status news headlined: ‘Olivia Nuzzi on leave from New York magazine after RFK relationship.’
That came Thursday night shortly before the star correspondent told DailyMail.com that ‘the nature of some communication between myself and a former reporting subject turned personal’ after she visited his home for a feature story. She said the relationship never got physical, but the magazine has placed her on leave.
The longtime Trump advisor might have been unable to resist the chance to settle a grudge, perhaps without realizing that doing so might not reflect well on the Trump campaing.

It is unclear whether the Senate will pass the legislation or if President Biden would sign it.
Matt Gaetz spotted with 17-year-old high school junior during ‘drug-fueled sex party’, bombshell new documents allege
GOP firebrand is again in the middle of controversy for alleged sex crimes.
The bombshell details come as Gaetz’s friend, lobbyist Chris Dorworth, is trying to drop a civil lawsuit against their mutual friend Joel Greenberg for tarnishing his reputation.
According to new court documents released overnight, a witness allegedly saw Gaetz and a 17-year-old high school girl at a party that his ex-girlfriend also attended in 2017.
The witness claimed in a sworn document that the girl was ‘naked’ and attendees were engaging ‘in sexual activities.’
In addition, ‘alcohol, cocaine, ecstasy and marijuana’ were prevalent at the event.
Gaetz has denied all of the allegations that have long swirled around him, including paying for sex.
‘The person doesn’t exist. I have not had a relationship with a 17-year-old. That is totally false,’ he said on Tucker Carlson’s show in 2021.
The Department of Justice previously investigated Gaetz for alleged sex trafficking a minor but informed him they would not bring charges in 2023 after issues of witness credibility.
The House Ethics Committee is still conducting ‘further review’ into Gaetz on charges that include sex abuse and illicit drug use.
Mike Pence foundation puts $10M in push to keep Trump’s tax cuts in place
Former Vice President Mike Pence’s Advancing American Freedom is putting a staggering amount of money behind a push to keep Trump-era tax cuts in place.
We will be urging conservative leaders to join us in this fight.
According to a 13-page plan, the foundation will target swing state voters, particularly in states that could decide control of the Senate.
The campaign plans to span into 2025 and impact Congress as it considers whether to make changes to the tax code.
President Joe Biden has said he wants to keep cuts for Americans who make under $400K every year.
But his proposal includes raises on taxes for the wealthy. Kamala Harris is expected to mirror similar policies.
Pence said in a statement:
Washington has a spending problem, not a revenue problem. Our national debt is out of control, and taxing the American people more is not the solution.

Influential voter group says it ‘can’t’ endorse Kamala Harris in blow to Democrats in critical swing state
The Uncommitted National Movement said Thursday that the group would not formally endorse Vice President Kamala Harris’ presidential campaign, which could impact her chances in the key state of Michigan.
In a lengthy statement, leaders made clear they didn’t support former President Donald Trump and didn’t want followers of the movement to vote third-party.
‘[E]specially as third party votes in key swing states could help inadvertently deliver a Trump presidency given our country’s broken electoral college system,’ the statement said.

FiveThirtyEight gives her a 51 percent chance of winning the state, while Trump has a 49 percent chance.
Nate Silver, another top pollster, gives Trump the edge.
Kamala Harris tells Oprah: ‘If someone breaks into my house they are getting shot’
Kamala Harris reaffirmed that she’s a gun owner and will fire away if anyone tries to sneak into her house.
‘If somebody breaks into my house, they’re getting shot,’ she said, before showing off her trademark cackle.
She then expressed regret, similar to how her boss Joe Biden would try to take back foolish statements: ‘I probably should not have said that. My staff will deal with that later.’
The statement made headlines on social media, including an immediately condemnation from the National Rifle Association, who accused her of being a ‘walking contradiction’.
Olivia Nuzzi on leave from New York magazine after alleged affair with RFK Jr
A star political reporter for New York magazine has been placed on leave following an alleged affair with Robert F. Kennedy Jr, that began when she visited his $7 millionaliforniahome to write a feature article.
Washington correspondent Olivia Nuzzi admitted that ‘the nature of some communication between myself and a former reporting subject turned personal’, in a statement to DailyMail.com.
She also claimed the relationship was never physical.
Her editors confirmed that the other party was a ‘former subject relevant to the 2024 campaign’. Status reports that the affair was with the former presidential hopeful, who is married to actress Cheryl Hines.
RFK Jr., 70, has insisted he only met the political journalist once when she did a profile on him last year.
‘Mr. Kennedy only met Olivia Nuzzi once in his life for an interview she requested, which yielded a hit piece,’ his spokesman told CNN. A source added that the nature of the relationship was ’emotional and digital in nature, not physical’.
Majority of voters think Kamala Harris is responsible for the border crisis, higher levels of inflation, and Afghanistan exit
Her own campaign has tried to link her to controlling drug prices and economic growth.
Both efforts seem to be working, according to a J.L. Partners/DailyMail.com which found high proportions of voters blamed her or credited her for a slew of policies implemented during her time as Joe Biden’s vice president.
In particular, 60 percent of likely voters said was very or somewhat responsible for the record number of crossings at the southern border.
The Trump campaign sees that as a winning issue.
