Jameis Winston turns to god in bizarre press conference after throwing two pick-sixes in Cleveland Browns loss

Jameis Winston turned to god in his post-game press conference on Monday night after a game like no other in his team’s 41-32 loss to Denver Broncos.

The Cleveland Browns quarterback threw for 497 yards and four touchdowns but also recorded three interceptions – two of which were pick sixes.

Ja’Quan McMillan sealed the victory for the playoff chasing Broncos with a 44-yard pick six to spoil Winston’s night and clinch a crucial triumph for Sean Payton’s side.

Speaking after the game, a beleaguered Winston faced reporters and said: ‘I know I’m better than this. I know… I’m praying for the Lord to deliver me from pick-sixes.’

It was the 14th game of Winston’s career with three or more interceptions – six more than anyone else since entering the league in 2015.

Winston said that he apologized to his team in the locker room after the dramatic loss.

The 30-year-old Winston said that he apologized to his team after the loss on Monday night

‘I did, it was my fault,’ he said. ‘That’s evident. Two touchdowns by the defense, pick-sixes. I’ve been here before. I’ve got to play better.

‘It’s tough for any team to win when you have two defensive touchdowns that the quarterback gave them.

‘Defense played good, offense played well, I didn’t do a great job. I got to play better. That’s the biggest thing.’

The 30-year-old Winston is playing as quarterback for the Browns with first choice Deshaun Watson out injured for the rest of the season after tearing his Achilles tendon.

Despite Monday’s loss, the Browns have looked more dangerous with Winston instead of Watson and it prompted ESPN analyst Troy Aikman to question if Watson should return as No. 1.

‘You can’t help but wonder what this year might have looked like for Cleveland if Jameis had taken over from the start, or at least much sooner than when he did,’ he said.

The Browns have put a lot of money behind Watson, though. They traded away three first-round picks to get the quarterback and signed him to a fully guaranteed five-year, $230million deal.

Winston and his team are 3-9 after Monday’s loss and have a tough game coming up on Sunday against Pittsburgh Steelers.
