10 Bonkers Moments From The Wicked Press Tour So Far

The Wicked press tour has truly been the incredibly emotional gift that keeps on giving. No, seriously it seems like everyday another clip drops of Ariana Grande and Cynthia Erivo sobbing over their iconic roles and I am obsessed! But it is a lot to keep up with, so in case you missed any iconic/bonkers moments from the Oz crew, we’ve rounded up a list of must sees.

Here are the most bonkers highlights from the Wicked press tour

1. The “holding space” meme

In an interview with Out Magazine journalist Tracey Gilchrist dropped this absolute gem: “This week people are taking the lyrics of “Defying Gravity”and really holding space with that, and feeling power in that.”

Cynthia Erivo’s face was a whole mood — truly it looked like she was shook to her core.

“I didn’t know that was happening,” she replied, while Ariana reached out to hold her finger, thus birthing my favourite meme of 2024.

2. Jeff Goldblum learns he’s a zaddy

In a moment that we’re pretty proud of here at PEDESTRIAN.TV, Jeff Goldblum learned he’s not just a daddy but a full-blown zaddy during our interview. When our very own senior reporter Laura Masia dropped the z-bomb, Jonathan Bailey jumped in to explain, only to realise he was just as confused.

“You’re a big time zaddy,” Bailey told Goldblum, before asking, “Actually, what does zaddy mean?”

Of course Masia set the record straight on the definition and I think maybe she changed their lives forever with the insight. Watch here:

3. Ariana’s iconic reaction to fandom love

During the LA premiere, an AP journalist shared how the Arianator fandom changed his life: “95 per cent of my friends met each other because of [the Arianator fandom]. I’m in a relationship because of it — through your fandom.”

4. The universe is in fact crazy

In another interview with our queen Laura Masia, Ariana spilled the tea on her Wicked history after being asked about her song “Popular” with MIKA. It turns out, it wasn’t even her idea, but it was destined to happen

“We’ve always been weirdly intertwined with Wicked,” she said.

5. BIGGS’ sunglasses moment with Ariana and Cynthia

Interviewer BIGGS aka my new favourite little diva snapped a photo with Ariana and Cynthia after her interview where she got to wear Ariana’s sunglasses. After the selfie she casually handed Ariana back her sunglasses like she was her personal assistant which had Ari and everyone else online gagging!!!

6. Wicked”s affect on kids

Georgie Tunny from The Project hit us right in the feels when she gave insight into how young viewers reacted to the movie, sharing what her close friend’s young daughter said at the end of the movie. “You have to be good and you have to be kind to everybody, and she is a good witch,” she said.

The two witches held hands obviously and as Ariana reached out to wipe away Cynthia’s tears, everyone on the internet simultaneously started crying. “If kids can feel that, then…” Cynthia started, with Ariana finishing off: “That’s the point.” Okay shut up, i’m crying again.

7. Helicopters ruin everything

In true Hollywood fashion, a helicopter decided to crash Cynthia’s emotional moment during an Entertainment Tonight interview and Ariana looked ready to throw hands at the sky for ruining their moment.

8. “We all sing” in Wicked

Both Ariana and Jonathan Bailey gave a cheeky nod to the infamous “we all sing” meme from Victorious alum Victoria Justice not once but twice during separate interviews. Oh I love when celebs get in on their memes, it truly makes me feel like we’re all connected ya know! No, but seriously I need to know what Victoria Justice thinks of Wicked ASAP.

9. Group cry with Em Rusciano

Em Rusciano‘s interview turned into an emotional sob fest after she asked the stars how they feel about their project finally being out in the world for other people to receive.

Cynthia, Ariana, and Em were all shedding tears when they started talking about “Defying Gravity” and I have to say I was real jealous of the group cry.

10. Okay so apparently Glinda might be a little fruity

In an interview with The Gay Times, Ariana and Cynthia were asked about the fan theory that ship Glinda and Elphaba together. Although Cynthia was more chill about the whole thing, Ariana hinted that Glinda might be “a little in the closet”! She said, “Give it a little more time.” TEA!!
